
Homeowners Insurance
This Homeowners Insurance course reviews the Insurance Services Office (ISO) 2000 edition of the Homeowners Policy forms are studied in detail focusing on policy structure, coverages, exclusions, conditions, and key policy definitions. The course thoroughly investigates the HO-3, HO-4, and HO-6 Homeowners Policies to benefit underwriters and agents as they recommend coverage for their insureds. The course specifically reviews Homeowner Policy eligibility rules, property and liability coverage and exclusions; property valuation; named and special perils; loss of use; additional insurance limits for debris removal; policy duties; and common endorsements to alter common policy exclusions for insureds needing broader coverage.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
- List and explain the various Homeowners Policy forms, eligibility rules including terms, conditions, definitions, and coverages.
- Discuss Replacement Cost and Actual Cash Value property valuations.
- Identify and briefly explain the Covered Causes of Loss (Named Perils and Special Perils) an insurer promises to pay for direct losses to a dwelling and personal property.
- Explain dwelling and structure exclusions and coverage that may be given back within the exclusions.
- Explain what is considered a structure and personal property covered and valued in the Homeowners Policy form.
- Explain the coverage provided by Coverage D: Additional Living Expense.
- Discuss the insured's duties following a loss.
- List and explain coverages and exclusions provided in Coverage E-Personal Liability and Coverage F-Medical Payments and key definitions.
- List and explain common property and liability endorsements.
